1. Introduction

Velaphi ("we", "us", "our") runs the Velaphi Go app and the Velaphi website (the "Services"). This policy covers what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your choices.

By using the Services, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

2. Who is responsible for your data

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable laws, Velaphi is the responsible party for personal information processed through the Services.

3. Information we collect

We may collect:

• Account details: name, email, phone number, and password (or third-party sign-in).
• Profile and delivery details: addresses, order history, preferences, and order notes.
• Location: approximate or precise location when you allow it, for nearby restaurants, delivery estimates, and order tracking.
• Payment data: processed by partners such as Paystack. We do not store full card numbers. We receive transaction references and payment status.
• Device data: device type, OS, app version, IP address, and push tokens for order updates.
• Communications: support messages and records of notifications we send you.
• Usage data: how you use the app and website, used to improve the Services.

4. How we collect information

We collect information when you register or sign in, place an order, update your profile, enable location or notifications, contact support, or use the Services.

We also receive information from service providers that help us run the Services (see Section 6).

5. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

• Create and manage your account, including Google Sign-In if you choose it.
• Process orders, payments, refunds, and delivery.
• Send order updates by push notification and in-app message.
• Provide support.
• Improve, secure, and fix the Services.
• Meet legal duties and protect Velaphi, users, and partners.
• Send service messages. Marketing is only sent where the law allows, and with consent when required.

6. Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the Services, including with:

• Restaurants and drivers fulfilling your order.
• Payment processors such as Paystack.
• Cloud and tech providers (hosting, Firebase/Google push, mapping) that process data for us under contract.
• Sign-in providers such as Google, under their own policies.
• Advisers and authorities when the law requires it, or to protect safety and security.

7. Legal basis (where applicable)

Under POPIA and similar laws, we process information on one or more of: contract (providing the Services), consent (for example location or marketing when required), legitimate interests (improving and securing the Services), and legal obligations.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, including legal, tax, and accounting duties. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it where we reasonably can.

9. Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including HTTPS/TLS in transit. No system is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights and choices

Under POPIA and other applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, object to some processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, and complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).

You can update some details in Velaphi Go. For other requests, email info@velaphi.com. We may need to verify your identity.

You can turn off push notifications or location in device settings. That may limit some features.

11. Children

The Services are not for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Cross-border processing

Our providers may process data outside South Africa. Where they do, we take steps required by law to protect your information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The new version will appear on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For material changes, we may also notify you in the app or by email.
